What Is a Moonbow at Yosemite
A moonbow, or lunar rainbow, forms when moonlight is refracted by water droplets in the air. At Yosemite, the most reliable moonbows appear near Yosemite Falls during bright, humid nights with a full or nearly full moon.
Best Time to See a Moonbow
Moonbows are most common from April through June, when waterfall flows are high and evening air is moist. Clear skies, low wind, and a strong moon overhead increase the chance of a visible bow.
Where and How to View a Moonbow
