Average Length of Great White Shark

Adult great white sharks typically measure between 4.0 and 5.2 meters (13 to 17 feet) in length. Males often fall in the lower range, while females can reach the upper end of this average.

Size Range and Sexual Dimorphism

Exceptional individuals may exceed 6 meters (20 feet), but verified records are rare. Females are generally larger than males, a pattern known as sexual dimorphism that is common in many shark species.

Comparison with Other Large Sharks

The great white is one of the largest predatory sharks, though the whale shark and basking shark grow longer. Its size supports its role as an apex predator in coastal and offshore waters.
